Run Walk & Roll 5K
Join the Foundation Run, Walk, & Roll 5K/1 mile event. Enjoy a day of fun with friends and family while raising money for the Foundation. Proceeds support Foundation programs that assist with urgent or emergency needs such as shelter, food, clothing, medical needs, etc., provide funding for affordable housing, community programs, and much more; for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Applications are now being accepted for the free Autism Film Program for Military Children presented by ACT Today! and Cox Communications.
This is a two-week program that teaches military children with autism and their siblings. During the program, participants will work in a small group setting to create a short film that will later premiere that the San Diego Film Festival. Program Information: June 17 - June 28th from 10am - 3pm daily Cox Communication Campus 5651 Copley Dr. San Diego, CA 92111 Participants are encouraged to come without additional support however, if additional support is needed, they may bring a trained therapist to accompany them. July 26-28, 2013. Their camp is located about 45 minutes outside of San Diego, just 4 miles from Julian. Their brand new Special Needs Family Camp will provide: 1. A trained 1:1 aide for each family for the weekend 2. 3 days and 2 nights deluxe lodging accommodations 3. 7 scrumptious meals (special diets can be accommodated) 4. Exciting age/ability-appropriate camp activities, crafts and recreational opportunities for the special needs kids and their typical siblings 5. Outstanding parent speakers focused on families living with disability to include special needs education and trust attorneys; educators and therapists 6. Swimming, horseback riding, ziplining, hiking and more for the whole family to enjoy together Cost is $46/person (age 3 and under are free) + either deluxe lodging ($440) or RV hookups ($225). $250 campership vouchers are available from the Boys and Girls Club Foundation as well as LOADS of other private financial aid as well.
