Volunteer Your Time
Do you love helping others? Is your heart ready to get even bigger? We've got a great way for you to give and receive! If you love kids and would like to serve children with disabilities, then we've got a lot of opportunities for you! Cecily's Closet is looking for volunteers to join our small and might army!
Volunteers can help with a variety of tasks! We're currently looking for volunteers in the following areas:
Fundraising - If you have contacts in the San Diego area (furniture stores, mattress stores, local artists etc.) you can help us reach out and share our story. We're a charity completely funded by donations and the support of local businesses. In 2012 we will need to raise more funds quickly to sustain our efforts.
Gaining Corporate Sponsorships - If you work for a corporation in San Diego - inquire about a service committee or donation matching program. Cecily's Closet has benefited from these programs in the past and we'd love to work with more corporations in 2012.
Grant Writing - We applied for several grants in 2011 with limited success! We need help. If you have experience applying for grants then we'd love to hear from you!
Helping with a Room makeover - There are many tasks involved with completing a room makeover... from ironing the curtains to hanging the art! We're always looking for an extra pair of hands. We welcome designers and artists but you don't have to be a professional to join our crew!
Calling Carpenters! - We know that building furniture can be cheaper than buying it! We don't have too many carpenters on our team yet... but we'd love to be able to maximize some of the smaller spaces we work with my getting creative with built ins and more!
Gently Used Goods - If you have gently used equipment that a child with special needs can benefit from, please contact us. We're committed to building out our equipment recycle program in 2012!
Photography! - We are realizing that a wide angle lens camera is a wonderful (but expensive item!) If you have a passion for photography and can photograph our rooms (before and after) we'd really appreciate it.
Video Editing - We love to create videos of our rooms so you can meet the family and learn more about the opportunities they face by raising a child with special needs! We'd love help creating these mini-videos to help spread the word about our work!
Sewers wanted - It is amazing what many hands can do! Help us keep our belly bands FREE for families in San Diego. We make fabric wraps for children with feeding tubes and we will supply volunteers with the fabric necessary to make these lovely belly bands. Comfy for kids and priceless for parents!
