Cameron and Kayla's Story

Surf's up for Cameron, almost 3, and Kayla, almost 2, in their brand new, beach retreat. This brother and sister team is as cute as pie - just like their loving Nana Cheryl and Papa, Terry. Their home is full of love and we are inspired by this family's strength and commitment to family. In addition to raising a beautiful daughter whose life was tragically cut short, this Nana and Papa have devoted their life to raising their grandchildren, nieces and nephews. When family calls - this couple steps up and stands strong together. This family is brimming with love and we hope they enjoy every minute in their new space.
Cameron and Kayla were nominated for a Sweet Dreams Room Makeover from their team at Sunny Days. Both children receive speech, physical and cognitive therapy to help them grow and develop and achieve their full potential. With smiles a mile-wide and grins galore, these two cuties are surrounded with love. With the support from their family, therapists and older sister Alexis, both children are thriving and Cameron recently began to communicate verbally! We hope his new room inspires him even more.
This family was so grateful and appreciative of this gift. We are so lucky to have partners that work hard to make magical rooms for amazing kids, like Cameron and Kayla, that are smiling in the face of adversity.
Thank you to a new contributing artist to Cecily's Closet, Hanna's Murals. Hanna worked with the family to ensure that the space would represent both Cameron's love of kite surfing as well as Kayla's love of all things girlie! The butterflies fluttering around the palm tree and the subtle touches to her amazing mural is eye canding AND a gift that keeps on giving! If you look closely at the clouds in this space you will see that they are actually sea animals flying through the air. This whimsical touch made the room even more fun!
We also have to thank our super-star partner, PaintGreen, for once again providing a beautiful canvas with this Sail Bay Blue paint from Dunn Edwards! Our chief volunteer, Gina, referred to this color as bubble gum blue - and after seeing it in person I have to agree! It pops with color and fun and will provide sunny days ahead for our adorable little surfers, Cameron and Kayla.
And last but not least, our volunteers - Gina and my Dad. We had a small team on this project but everyone worked hard to make a fun, creative and inviting space for Cameron and Kayla to play and sleep! We are very grateful to everyone and our Sweet Dream Room Makeover donors, especially Kay and family for the beautiful beds! Our donors and partners are the heart and soul of our operation. Thank you for helping us spread hope and bring smiles to everyone in this deserving family.
