Knock Knock... is anybody home? I'm looking for two adoring sisters, Chloe and Emily! Peek-a-boo! I see them hiding in the secret tunnel of their new doll-house bed! We are pretty sure that these two sisters will be sleeping soundly tonight in this amazing creation by Knock on Wood. We are so grateful to its previous owners, Zina, Russel and Alexa for donating this custom-built, bed to Cecily's Closet. We would never have been able to afford such a wonderful retreat and to be able to give this pricless bed a second life is good for everyone! Cecily's Closet searched high and low for the right family for this bed. We really wanted to find two sisters that could share the bed and utilize every aspect of it!
Chloe was nominated for a Sweet Dream Room Makeover by El Camino Pediatrics in Encinitas. We knew when we saw the nomination that we had found the right family! Cecily's Closet is so grateful to El Camino Pediatrics for not only providing wonderful care for Noah and Cecily, but for actively supporting our tiny charity. It is lovely to be able to honor one of their patients in this special way.
Chloe has Angelman syndrome. Angelman syndrome (AS) is a neuro-genetic disorder characterized by intellectual and developmental delay, sleep disturbance, seizures, jerky movements (especially hand-flapping), frequent laughter or smiling, and a happy demeanor. We can confirm that Chloe is one happy go lucky little girl! She greeted us with smiles and I even got a special hug. She has a zest for life and she is quite curious, too. We really enjoyed trying to keep her out of her new room while we worked to make it perfect! She took one look at that bed and was ready to crawl inside!
Chloe's parents shared that it is very typical for a child with Angelman syndrome to sleep only a few hours a night. Chloe is lucky to have a Mom and Dad that is so devoted to her success that they take turns sleeping with her to ensure she gets the rest she needs. We're all hoping that with this special bed Chloe will enjoy spending more time sleeping - especially knowing that little sister, Emily, is just upstairs in the top bunk! Emily is a very devoted sister and we know she will look out for Chloe from her hidden retreat upstairs.
Knock on Wood, handcrafted cabinets and furniture, designed the custom bed. The gate, stone steps, flower boxes, windows and roof are beyond precious. My camera did not do this room justice! Mark is supremely talented and can be reached at 760.945.4604 if you see these pictures and decide that your little prince or princess has to have one of these amazing creations!
Thank you to our generous donors for making Chloe's "Sweet Dreams" makeover come true!
