Emely's Room
Every nomination we receive pulls on our heart strings - but this one cut straight through to the heart. Described as a "super sweet little princess with challenges..." we knew we had to learn more about little Miss Emely. This family is no stranger to heart-break and the chance to spread some love and hope to everyone - not just Emely - was a gift for our team.
Raising a child with special needs is a gift - but it is not easy. It comes with challenges and sleepless nights, expensive bills and plenty of heartache. What sets some parents apart is the ability to buckle down and focus and support the child no matter what the cost - no matter how hard it can be - and no matter what obstacles may be presented. Dedication. This families defines it. Mom walks Miss Emely to school every day - rain or shine as there is no bus service provided. This family already has one little angel with wings in heaven, it was our delight to be able to help love and support her two little girls. We see a lot of nominations that speak to a Mother's love - but this one quite simply just blew us away. And we can see why - one look at Emely and her big, wide smile and you can't help but melt. Despite a vast list of medical needs, including a trach and g-tube, Emely has a smile for everyone, even when she is too ill to leave her house. While her verbal skills are limited, her big, beautiful, brown eyes speak volumes about her and her spirit. Her medical team describe her as very sweet, shy and dainty! They wanted to ensure she had something special - and something inspirational that would help her on her journey. This family was so grateful for Emely's Sweet Dream Room Makeover. And thanks to Girl Scout Troop 6109 and Suzy's enterprising skills, we were able to surprise the family with not one, but two room makeovers. We are so grateful to Arielle Namenyi of Relillustrations for once again stepping up and providing beautiful, custom art with the girl's names. The pink princesses popped on the beautiful green walls painted by our one and only painting partner, PaintGreen. The lively color made the room pop and provided the perfect palette for a a princess party, complete with plenty of pretty packages to unwrap! Thank you to Mattress Co. Direct for once again providing the beautiful furniture for our team- and for swooping in at the very last minute with an urgent delivery! The room is so happy and cheerful will bring big smiles to everyone who enters. Thank you to Suzy H, and Girl Scout Troop 6109 for helping make Emely's Sweet Dream Makeover come true!
