Under the Sea with Millie!

Meet Millie. Not only is she as cute as a button from head to toe - but she's captivating. We think the team did a fabulous job creating a room that will enable Millie to play, dream, rest and grow!

Millie was nominated by her therapist who describes this little live wire as a very special girl. Her devoted therapist partook in what may have been the greatest game of phone tag in our history - but she never gave up!  She advocated for Mille as she knew she and her supportive family deserved this opportunity!

And after meeting this family - we couldn't agree more!  Millie lives with her devoted Mom, Hilda, and her caring grandparents, Jose and Manuela. She is surrounded with what every child needs most to grow - love! We see Hilda every year at the Involved Exceptional Parents (IEP) Day and she is always advocating and working hard for Millie.  We love to see parents getting involved in the community and taking advantage of every resource possible for the betterment of their children.

Millie, 5, is completely deaf, and severely impacted with autism. She has rigid flexibility and sensory challenges. Millie has a hard time gaining a preference assessment and she seeks out an environment that is self-stimulating and sensory-oriented.

The team from Children's Physicians Medical Group  took all of the therapist's feedback into consideration when they designed her mermaid retreat. Since Millie has excellent vision and loves bright colors and lights, the room is full of color that pops! 

Plus, Millie loves the water and loves mermaids even more! So the team combined her passion for all things girlie with this purple, pink and blue explosion of under the sea fun!

Millie works extremely hard at communicating and can often get overwhelmed.  We were delighted to create a special retreat for Millie that makes her feel special, loved and heard! 
 
We would like to thank Children's Physician's Medical Group for once again donating their time and talent to help Cecily's Closet complete our 72nd room makeover.  This team of devoted friends and co-workers came together to make a splash for Millie!
