Nia's Story
Nia is an adorable three-year old girl that loves life, bright colors and butterflies! Unlike most kids her age, Nia spends a lot of time in her room. She was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy and is a quadriplegic. While she is unable to speak verablly - Nia says a lot with her eyes and her beautiful smiles. In fact, when her nurse Heather wheeled into her room for the first time we got to capture one of those million dollars smiles on camera as she gazed at her poppy purple walls!
When we heard Nia's story, we couldn't wait to provide her with a Sweet Dreams room makeover! This room was extra-special because it was provided by the Websense Service Committee! The Websense Volunteers came out on Saturday and Sunday from 9-6 to transform not just one - but two rooms - for this deserving family! We also were blessed to work with one of my favorite artists in San Diego, Art by Tasha. Tasha met with Cecily's Closet and made two custom pieces of art for Nia to grow up with! The beautiful butterfly art looks amazing in Nia's colorful room and we are truly grateful to be able to provide her such a fun place to play and sleep.
In addition to creating a butterfly room for Nia, we were able to provide a monkey bathroom for her two fun-loving brothers, Ian and Kai. Nia is blessed to have such a caring, generous and loving family. Her Mom, Genene, works hard to ensure all of her children get the best start in life. Nia's Dad is serving our country in Afghanistan so we were very happy to be able to help them get settled in their new home in Oceanside.
Thank you to Websense and the Service Committee volunteers for helping us to make a difference in the lives of this family. Onwards and upwards!
