The gift of children is a blessing. The gift of grandchildren is a blessing
times three for Sammie's Grandparents, Grandma Gena, Grandpa Mel and her awesome Grandma Debbie who are together actively raising their miracle grandbaby. Sammie is a social three and a half year old girl that is happy,
affectionate and loves life. Sammie enjoys music, dancing and clapping -
and when she’s dancing she wants you to join, too!
Sammie was nominated for this room makeover by a nurse at Alcott Elementary School's Infant and Toddler Program who shares Sammie's grandparent's belief that Sammie is a joy, a gift and a continual surprise!
This family was nominated as they exemplify the family spirit of Cecily's Closet. Sammie is surrounded with love and people who work hard to do their best for her. While a lot of demands are placed on Sammie's grandparents, they not only raise Sammie but they are active with their own children in addition to providing support and strength for their aging parents. Despite the demands on their time and energy, Mel, Gena and Debbie take on these challenges because of a belief in, and a committment to preserving family.
The grandparents are grateful for an Art Makes a Difference room, and they are happy to have an updated space for Sammie to come home to. The room was designed to grow with Sammie and support her through her toddler years and beyond. The Cecily's Closet team worked hard to create a space that would inspire her creativity and support her love of learning. Sammie's room provides her with a space to be surrounded with books and a quiet space to focus and learn new things.

Thank you to our dedicated team of volunteers from The UPS Store for completing yet another room! Your hard-work, generosity and compassion for children with special needs is inspiring and a true testament to the wonderful and supportive community we live in. Thank you! And a big welcome and special thanks to a new artist, Yvette. We are so happy to have you on the team!
