Stacey's Story![]() UPS had a special delivery for Stacey this weekend. Cinderella and her handsome prince arrived to dance in Stacey's very own ballroom - complete with sparkling chandelier, ball gown mirror and fairy godmother!
Stacey is an almost ten-year old little girl that loves everything Cinderella. She is passionate about her princess and her four little mice friends. She loves communicating and playing with her iPad, spending time with her family and loving with her sweet dog, Sunny. Stacey was born with a lethally low amount of platelets and with what the medical community refers to as failure to thrive - a horrible term for a baby that just does not wish to eat . She has endured many medical complications since birth, underwent many surgeries, coped with feeding challenges, battled bouts with pancreatitis, seizures and more - but she has always remained a beautiful light shining through and happily doles out smiles and kisses to everyone she meets. In 2009, the medical community realized that Stacey had 9P-, a very rare chromosome deletion that has brought many challenges and opportunities to this deserving family. While Stacey may not walk, is largely fed via a feeding tube, and may have limited verbal abilities, she knows exactly what she wants and is a very happy, sweet and loving little princess. While it is hard to see your child endure so many medical procedures and hospital visits - it is impossible to deflate the joy and love of the simple pleasures of life that Stacey brings to her Mom and Dad. When asked about the opportunity of raising a child with special needs, Stacey's Mom says, "We are so amazed to have been chosen by heaven to be Stacey's parents. We consider it a great honor that we are entrusted to care and love and protect and nurture one of heaven's most precious children. " Stacey is known for lighting up so many lives and we cannot wait for you to see her beautiful face light up when her Mom carried her into the room for the first time. Thank you VolunteersThis room makeover was not an easy project! We must give credit to our team from UPS who reached out to us to help with our charitable efforts. They went above and beyond in every aspect of this makeover - from helping with the flooring, to shopping, installing molding and more! They wore smiles on their faces and were an exceptional volunteer crew!
And it will come as no surprise to those of you that follow our makeovers to hear that our dream team of PaintGreen and Inside Emily Dolton's Head, combined to make the walls come to life. PaintGreen arrived on time and transformed the space into a soft glowing room. Emily arrived with her toolkit and set to work to turn a bedroom into a ballroom with her paintbrush. A special thanks to Steele Realty for letting us borrow their amazing camera equipment. We would not have been able to get these photographs without their special lens. And of course, a big thank you to my Dad for working so hard to make this room perfect for Stacey. You are such an amazing asset to our team. And last but not least, thank you to our generous donors for making Stacey's "Sweet Dreams" makeover come true! |
