Sweet B's Story"You need a little rain to make a rainbow..." and at the other end you will find Sweet B, a miraculous micro preemie born weighing 1 pound, 11 ounces. From early in the pregnancy the doctors didn't give this little girl the hope of life. Sweet B's doting, loyal and spiritual parents, weathered an amazingly painful pregnancy filled with more hurdles and anguish than anyone could imagine. Hearing their story and seeing their strength is inspiring and makes us all believe in miracles! Sweet B, is a true miracle baby! You can read this family's story in their own words here.
Sweet B fought her way to life, since six weeks gestation. Her parents describe this angel as happy, silly, and stubborn because she knows what she wants. They also call her their rainbow baby, which is a live baby after having a baby in heaven. In honor of this, we created Sweet B a rainbow room fit for a beautiful, bubbly little girl! Sweet B was nominated for a Sweet Dream Room Makeover by her teacher at Sunny Days. We process a lot of room requests and unfortunately we can't do them all - just yet! When we heard the story of Sweet B and her message of hope we knew we had to do this room to honor her spirit and journey. We have a lot of people to thank for making this room so fun and bright! A big thanks to our teen volunteers from TVIA for working hard all day to make the space special. A warm welcome to a few newcomers on the team! Steve Bair filled the big shoes of my Dad as we was needed at home this weekend to care for my Mom. Steve was calm, cool and collected - and fast! We are grateful for his amazing contractor skills. And of course, it will come as no surprise that our teen artists were supervised by Emily Dolton of Inside Emily Dolton's Head. Emily created some beautiful art for the boys to paint and it made the room pop! But the list continues. Thank you Beverly for the gorgeous curtains and throw pillows, Julie for helping with the teens and keeping everything in order, and of course not to forget Beverly and Gina for their efforts, too! And last but not least, the beautiful lady bug bedding was graciously donated by Tricia from Beach Bungalow Designs in Del Mar. It was a team effort and we are grateful. We would not be able to help deserving families like Sweet B without the support of our community. Thank you to our generous donors for making Sweet B's "Sweet Dreams" makeover come true! Teen Volunteers in Action (TVIA)Thank you to our small army of teens from, Teen Volunteers in Action (TVIA)!
Teen Volunteers in Action is an organization of young men who, together with their families, participate in structured programs of volunteerism, philanthropy and personal development. TVIA believe that through volunteer projects like Cecily's Closet, that these young men will grow up to become strong community leaders. We had about ten teens help with every aspect of the room – from painting the art you see on the walls, to building the furniture, cleaning, and creating the videos you see on this site. We would like to commend them for their hard-work! This is an extraordinary group of young men and just like our teen groups in January - they were ALL well mannered, very respectful and excellent helpers! |
