Three Times the Fun!Three little monkeys jumping on the bed! Meet Martin, Jordan and Chano, age 4, and see their new special place to play, learn and sleep!
The Delgado family was nominated for a Sweet Dream Room Makeover by their therapist at California Children's Services. When we received the nomination we couldn't imagine the challenges and blessings that three children would special needs would bring to a family. The nomination spoke volumes about the family and how they always put the children first and never, ever complain! They appreciate the gifts that children with special needs provide and view every day with their children as an opportunity to love them for what they bring to their life! We couldn't have said it better! Dad serves in the military and even though Mom sometimes has to care for three developmentally challenged children by herself, her attitude is full of optimism and gratitude for life's little blessings. When we first spoke to the Mom we were so impressed with her outlook, her children's story of hope and how grateful she was about being chosen for a room makeover! Mom never asked for anything - even though we desperately wanted to make sure the room was perfect for her growing little ones. This room was serious monkey business! We had monkeys on the bed, the walls, the bedding and even a monkey driving his own banana car! Emily Dolton of Inside Emily Dolton's Head transformed these white walls into a fun-loving, full-filled room that will grow with all 3 children. This room was everything we wanted it to be - bright, cheery and full of energy. We are so grateful to Emily for working with our tiny organization. This is her 8th makeover with us! We can't say enough about how caring, supportive and talented this wonderful lady is! In addition to the room, we had a big surprise for the family. An amazing, local family in Encinitas who has been very supportive of our efforts heard about the Delgado family and their story and decided they wanted to do something nice for the family. One sunny Saturday they called me up to let me know they would be providing the family with a check for five thousand dollars! Today it was our pleasure to award them with this check and help them on their journey. Thank you to our anonymous donor! We are so grateful to you for everything you have done for Cecily's Closet - and for the amazingly generous check for this very deserving family. Thank you to Beach Bungalow Designs for the donation of the beautiful crib bedding set! As soon as Jordan got into her crib she started smiling and giggling! And a special thank you to Websense for funding this room makeover! It was a surprise to me and we are thrilled and grateful! We had a small but mighty volunteer crew this weekend. Thank you to Karla, Emily, Websense, our anonymous donor and of course my very amazing Dad for helping to make this "Sweet Dreams" makeover come true!" |
Three MiraclesBorn into a family of love at just 23 weeks and 5 days, these three miracle babies are full of fun and you can tell they are all fighters! The picture to the left was made by their nurses at Balboa Hospital in San Diego. It is hard to believe how tiny their little hands and feet were over 4 years ago!
Martin came first weighing in at 1lb 3oz, followed by his sister, Jordan, at 1lb 5oz, and then Juan at 1lb 5oz. It took four months in the NICU before the boys could go home and little Jordan stayed on for nine months. Each little bundle faces a different set of challenges but they are receiving the therapy they need from California Children's Services (CCS) and they are thriving. Getting three children, one non-walker, to and from school and therapy can be challenging but everyone at CCS remarks that this family does it with a smile on their face! Mom says, "they are our miracle babies, and we love them very much and each day with them is a true blessing." Surrounded with love from Mommy and Daddy, Martin, Jordan and Chano are growing and working hard to achieve their developmental milestones. We are inspired by this family's story of hope and love and their devotion to their angels, all three of them! |
