Lose the Training Wheels

What a wonderful program for children! Check out Lose The Training Wheels™ Camp brought to you by Crimson Speech-Language Research & Treatment Center! If Cecily was older I would definitely sign her up for an amazing opportunity like this.  We are so lucky to live in a city that provides so much support for children with special needs.

Scholarships are still available!

The Crimson Speech-Language Research & Treatment Center is excited to bring Lose the Training Wheels™ to San Diego August 29 through September 2, 2011 in an effort to teach 40 children with disabilities to ride conventional two-wheel bicycles and become lifelong, independent riders. This achievement creates a gateway of opportunity and personal growth, helping them gain assurance and self-reliance in many other aspects of their lives. In the past year, Lose The Training Wheels™ has operated seven fleets of bikes, traveling through various regions of the country, conducting more than 60 camps.

Lose the Training Wheels™ is more than just a bike-riding program. For many children with disabilities, it is a seemingly impossible task that most learn to master in less than a week. Within days of learning to ride, many children exhibit independent behaviors for the first time. Through the use of elaborate equipment, this progressive program teaches children increased independence. All equipment is provided, so children do NOT need to bring bicycles or helmets. Camp Location: SolCity Sports Center at Alliant University. View Details for requirements and registration information.

More volunteers are still needed to help support the children as they ride.  Please contact Kendall Dann at kendall.dann@gmail.com

Onwards & upwards!
