Thanks to a grant from The UPS Foundation, on 8/6/13 Cecily’s Closet will embark on a mission to provide 9 room makeovers for 9 children with special needs in San Diego. Room makeovers will be provided by 9 teams comprised of community volunteers from various local and corporate businesses. Each team will receive $900.00 dollars from Cecily's Closet. 9 Project Managers and many contributing artists from Cecily’s Closet will be assigned to help the teams complete this mission of giving! Teams are encouraged to fund raise for their rooms to go above and beyond the designated budget to ensure every Sweet Dream Makeover is spectacular! Where: San Diego County - North, South, East and West - any child with special needs living within the county limits is eligible! Why: This program of giving will serve the purpose of completing 9 of our 12 makeovers planned for 2013. It will also demonstrate to the community that anyone with the passion to make a difference can truly transform a space and make life better for children with special needs in the community. Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, GA., The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. In support of this strategic approach, The UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas for giving: non-profit effectiveness, encouraging diversity, community safety, and environmental sustainability. The UPS Foundation is honored to support Cecily's Closet's efforts to provide Sweet Dream Room Makeovers for children in San Diego with significant developmental disabilities that spend the majority of their time at home," said Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation. "Our goal is to fund powerful programs that make a lasting difference to the global community." We're so excited!!! Onwards & Upwards! | Our Inspiration |
